Digital Storytelling

You must have been miserable with me gone ;-)

[I hope your science fairs are ready. I hope all your sustainability arguments are done.]

I have been doing a digital storytelling workshop with special people. It was amazing! The stories they told were so moving everybody cried :-)
We can do digital storytelling in our class. Do YOU have a personal story to tell? Something honest and poignant that can be told in a few minutes with still images and a voice over/narration?
It may seem hard, but with help, it is easy. Your own stories flow from you once you start.
You can leave comments here with ideas if you like.
Some new friends touched my life this week and I hope we can all benefit from the experience.
See you tomorrow!

Making a personal difference

As a result of our inquiry into sustainability and how we make an impact on the Earth with every choice we make, I would like you to do the following:

1. Make a commitment to reduce your ecological footprint in three ways.
2. Create a "footprint diary" on your sustainability blog.
3. Monitor your progress honestly - don't feel bad if you find it difficult - just do your best.
4. Evaluate your choices weekly and estimate which of your three is the most effective.

So make some suggestions here as to what you may try and why. Then start your "diary" on your sustainable blog.

We'll see who has made the biggest difference to the Earth in Week ten.

Blog of the Week competition

Each week we will award someone the blogger of the week award.
So far today I think two or three people are in the running.
The criteria can be agreed upon in class - this is called co-construction - and if we're really clever, we could use secret official government documents to design a rubric against which to assess our fantastic blogging.
General rules would be that you should:
1. Follow the rules of cybersafety
2. Be interesting and creative
3. Use appropriate "school" language
4. Include your own topics of interest, responses to classroom discussion or tasks, and responses to posts on the Woodmonstas blog.
5. Interact with each other and respond constructively to each other's blogs/posts/comments

I have no doubt you guys can do a much more professional and technically proficient job than me. You just have to prove it.
Quality learning! Quality people!
